Oriental fruit moth lure
Oriental fruit moth lure is a pheromone-based attractant lure for oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta). Combine the oriental fruit moth lure with a plastic delta trap, or similar trap, to monitor oriental fruit moth populations.
Target Crop
Oriental fruit moth is a common pest of stonefruit but will also attack pome fruit, including nashi, if stonefruit is not present or already harvested. The oriental fruit moth lure is designed for use anywhere oriental fruit moth may be present.
- Effectively monitors the presence of oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta) in a crop
- Provides accurate pest pressure data to determine the most cost-effective and productive control solution
- Saves input costs by reducing the risk of overspraying
- Helps reduce human and environmental exposure to pesticides
- Reduces the possibility of pesticide resistance by limiting their excessive use
Oriental fruit moth lure consists of a rubber plug impregnated with a specific pheromone that attracts male oriental fruit moths. When combined with a trap the pheromone will attract and catch oriental fruit moths enabling accurate crop monitoring.
Place the lure on top of the adhesive panel inside the trap. Only one oriental fruit moth lure is needed per trap. Traps should be placed in the field and positioned slightly higher than mid-canopy height, or where the pest usually resides.
Monitor traps regularly from early spring up to harvest for the presence of oriental fruit moth. Replace the sticky surface of the trap every 2 weeks or when dirty or saturated with insects. Replace the oriental fruit moth lure with a new lure at least every 6 – 8 weeks.
Deploy mating disruption techniques with trap deployment and apply GRANDEX at egg laying stage of first flight.
When handling the lure, wear disposable gloves and avoid contaminating the outside of the trap with the pheromone. Discard old lures and all material that was in contact with the lures from the field. This includes the oriental fruit moth lure packaging and disposable gloves. It is also important that you do not contaminate the oriental fruit moth pheromone with the codling moth pheromone. Change gloves if going from dispensing the oriental fruit moth lure to the codling moth lure and store the lures separately.
Application Rate
Insert 1 oriental fruit moth lure per trap. Use at least 1 trap every 2 hectares. The number of traps/ha can be reduced when monitoring large cropping blocks.
For best results, consult a qualified pest control advisor or your distributor for specific instructions regarding the application rate and timing for oriental fruit moth lure application, as these will vary depending on pest population, crop, and field conditions.
Suitable for use in any crop vulnerable to oriental fruit moth.
Wear disposable gloves while handling and applying oriental fruit moth lures.
Store unused codling moth lures sealed in the original container. Store in a cool, dry place, away from heat and out of direct sunlight. For optimal shelf life, keep refrigerated or in the freezer.
